Acer Aspire One 532h

E-mail Print PDF

Acer is one of the most used names when netbooks come up in discussion. The Acer Aspire One 532h has performance that's almost as good as other top netbooks, but at a much more affordable price. In fact, this 10.1-inch netbook is considered one of the best values currently available. Acer has mastered the small footprint laptop market.

Battery life is excellent, with most testers getting between eight and 10 hours of use between charges. The Acer Aspire One 532h also offers better sound volume than other netbooks, and it comes with Intel's latest Atom N450 processor and a 160 GB hard drive (upgradeable to 250 GB).As video and streaming sites intensify in volume audio becomes much more important with the entertainment quotient of any netbook rising.

The keyboard has been redesigned from previous Aspire netbooks -- it is now 89 to 93 percent of full size and sports trendy "chiclet" keys. Experts like having the extra room on the keyboard, but some find the keys a little too flat, which interferes with typing. Users should shop keyboard first as it is an unavoidable method of using any netbook. Acer makes a larger screen version but this is not a netbook proper.

The display is also too glossy for some, as it kicks back glare and reflection under some lighting conditions. Glassy screens do collect less dust however and are easier to clean without damage. If you can afford to spend a bit more, the ten inch Toshiba gets the best reviews, with experts and users complimenting its usability and performance relative to other netbooks.
